Who are you most inspired by?
of “inspired” according to the OED is : “outstanding or brilliant in a way suggestive of divine inspiration”.
Then you’ve got to ask yourself, ‘who is that most likely applicable to?’
There isn’t one person that does that for me. I realise I may be the exception because I don’t follow any individual on social media.
You can keep your Musks, Trumps, Bezos etc etc etc. They’re all smoke and mirrors.
Real people? I’m often impressed when someone has started out in life in a particular direction but then, due to a particular set of circumstances, they’ve gone in a totally different direction and accomplished something amazing.
I’ve met different people in my life who have done exactly that. At the same time, they’ve kept a sense of self-identity and humility whilst being real about what they now do and say.
You wouldn’t recognise their names even if I write them down. But then it’s a personal question, “who inspired me?”.
I’ve never followed the crowd. I see what a lot of so-called ‘famous’ people say, then I see what they do and I draw my own conclusions.
I recommend you try that. I try to give the benefit of the doubt where possible. After all, I don’t really know what’s behind the headlines. But can you be inspired according to the exact definition if their conduct and attitude falls way below any kind of ‘normal’ standard?
I recently had a comment on one of my recent posts that was completely founded on the idea that being rich makes you happy. He said it does for him. Fine. He missed the point.
The Dutch have a saying, roughly translated it says: ‘the world keeps turning ‘.
So true. I’m not trying to be an opinion maker, an influencer of any description. I say what I think. I try and follow my personal convictions to the best of my ability.
Somebody doesn’t agree? It’s not the end of the world. See above.
On a spiritual level – that’s another entirely different level which does influence me but this isn’t the platform for such a deep and personal declaration.
I am inspired by a variety of real people who understand and have overcome challenges, have sought good answers for lifes’ difficult problems and met them all with dignity, love and acceptance.
Try it. Don’t be a crowd pleaser, be a doer, get your hands dirty, open your heart and whatever you do, do it with love and kindness.
