Do you believe in soulmates? Why or why not?
“Soulmates” isn’t a modern concept. It’s been around for yonks*.
At the core of it is the personal conviction that you’ve existed before (at some undisclosed time) met some other kindred person and, having died, somehow when you later re-emerged from your mothers body somehow seemingly against all the odds met that same person again.
Does anyone see the problem with this? Seriously, anyone? Whoever you are, you are of course entitled to your personal belief(s).
I’m sorry to tell you that the evidence is stacked against you. It all has to go back to the question of our existence.
Were we created? Or did we really come down from the trees and invent the wheel, discover fire and eventually quantum physics?
It’s one or the other. I’ve got more genetic material in an ant than any monkey. This doesn’t involve me carrying leaf cuttings up and down a defined path to my house and rushing off to get some more.
No, no. Neither do I share the desperation of those who seem to easily be amazed that some genes (not enough to even make a simple single cell life form!) can be found on meteorites or that the stars after a super nova, scatter all the known elements throughout the universe.
No. Not in the least. Sneering cynics will be distressed (or most likely annoyed!) when I insist we are created beings, with no previous life experience, placed on this beautiful unique planet by a loving Creator.
Yes, I know it’s a mess right now and no, I’m not at all pleased with how the so-called ‘mighty’ are messing with what could be a peacable existence if only we loved each other instead of all the hate and division.
They nailed a guy to a tree for teaching that. That’s the ‘mighty’ for you. You can almost hear them saying “we’re not having any of that love your neighbour stuff, thanks very much. Buy some big nails immediately!”
Now we come to the part that sounds contradictory. I have experienced 2 occasions when I have met someone and completely and utterly felt a unison of being. I married both of them (not at the same time you understand!) that’s bigamy or would it be big of me?
See what I did there! Soulmates? No, not at all. Examples of humans with a shared experience of real love and appreciation of how and why we are here? YES, ABSOLUTELY.
So in answer to your question, am I contradicting myself? No. Our chromosones are different, at a quantum level we are separate. But we are together.
Cynics, eat your heart out. True love exists, it can be found, it’s not connected to anything else but the person who shares your values, feelings, emotions and experience of life. It’s a huge gift from a loving Creator.
Enjoy it! I do. And now that’s the 3rd time I’ve publicly said that. (I do, I mean!) Keep up! Be unique, and wonderful because that’s how you were made!
*”yonks” = colloquial English for a very long time. As in “I haven’t seen you for yonks!”
