I’m fortunate to live by a river in rural Holland. Some of the paths are lined with apple, pear and cherry trees.
It’s a riot of colour and fragrance. A delight to the eye and with the birds singing in full voice, an absolute pleasure to see and hear and smell.
There’s also a range of water fowl, wading birds as well as numerus birds of prey.
Although Holland is flat and mostly reclaimed from the North Sea, the number of waterways and attention to habitat by a government body means you will always experience this range of wild encounters whenever you’re out and about.
It gets hilly in the south, with more valleys and forests. It reminds me of my home county of Warwickshire back in the UK.
Wherever you are, look up and smell the roses! It ain’t all gloom n doom!
