Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
- In a wooden box. It’s the pessimist in me. Sorry, I know it’s Monday but some days are like that.
- Placing the last plants of moss on my eco-friendly roof of the house I’ve just finished building. It’s half way up a mountain with spectaculr views over the river valley. I’ve planted 100’s of trees, a mix of coniferous and deciduous along with some rhodedendrons. In the stables are a couple of shire horses and in the adjacent fields a few sheep and highland cows.
- I’m in a hospital waiting for a kidney transplant. They don’t know if the donor is available yet. I’m not going to ask, I’m in no hurry.
I know which of the above I’d rather have. For anyone under 21 I guess the answer will be completely different.
But if you think about it, currently we’ve got a world order driven by oil. And look what that dependency has turned into.
The Japanese want to cover the moon in sun panels that return the energy to earth. Nice idea, no cigar!
Rolls Royce (engines! Not the car!!) have made mini nuclear reactors just big enough to power up to 500,000 households. Again, no cigar. *
Is anybody thinking outside the box? Even electric cars (and anything that follows) require power supply. Gas or oil? When are you going to recycle the batteries exactly? And where?
I think maybe option 1 is becoming most likely! Though I’d rather take option 2 thanks very much.
Imagine: we’re surrounded by a vast universe with billions of stars that are all powered by fusion. And you can’t even get close to how that happens. They’re trying and failing. Will it happen? Give me a shout when it does will you?
It’s Monday and as the Boom Town Rats sang: “I’ll tell you one, I don’t like Mondays”!!!
Have a positive week!
*nuclear waste, don’t mention Chernobyl OK?
