If you could have something named after you, what would it be?
Living example of course! Who wants to be named after a dead one? Oh, I know – Lief Firewood! The famous Scandinavian part time invisible mender.
Seriously though, how cool would it be to discover a previously unidentified tree species that was beautiful in the spring, i.e., tons of gorgeous blossom, a fabulous green glow on the leaves shaped like hearts in high Summer. Then in Autumn (or the Fall if you’re an American) variations on gold/red/yellow that slowly decay and fall in helicospirals.
The bark would be amazing too. With all sorts of healing properties as well as a wonderful structure.
Then if you could top it off with the most workable, colourful and intricate wood at it’s heart, that would be flipping awesome.
Maybe one day it will be discovered. Who knows? If I find it first it won’t be getting some obscure Latin name.
That’s used so that a botanist can be a smart arse at a party. No, no, not going there. It would be called the Andreas Most Gorgeous tree.
All subsequent related species would follow in a descending order from ‘beautiful’, ‘handsome’, ‘charming’ and so on until the whole family receives the due regard for their qualities.
I know. Not asking for much am I? Still, be great if it ever happens!
Imagination should be allowed free rein. Hope you’re thinking of something as amazing.
Have a good un!
