Tattoo? Tribal markings because???

What tattoo do you want and where would you put it?

Don’t get me wrong. If you’re a Maori or from some land with a long tradition of tattoos because of tribal recognition or familial belonging, fine. Fill your boots.

I would personally never ever ever have a tattoo anywhere about my person.

From my observation it would seem to have begun as a fashion object, a kind of social passport to acquire acceptance in your group or what a person deemed to be a ‘must have’ because of peer pressure.

I find it deeply distasteful. But then I feel the same about smoking.

Stranger still is that some seem to think it’s “art”. The OED defines it very specifically as a painting or sculpture. Tattoos are neither.

It’s disfigurement of the body, plain and simple.

I’m fairly sure that I’m in the minority on this topic. After all the prompt implied certainty by asking what and where, rather than do you want one or not.

No offence intended to anybody that’s got them. Your choice, your responsibility.

Me? I’ll go tattoo free, but thanks for asking!
