“I’m here today . . .

What was the best compliment you’ve received?

. . . Because of something you said to me that helped me have the right focus in my life.”

I’m very fortunate in this respect since 2 separate people have said this to me.

As these responses are deeply personal, I’ll refrain from going into too much detail.

They were both young men at the time, I noticed that they were struggling to make sense of the kind of decisions that would help them get through their particular challenges.

So I offered some encouragement which it emerged years later was useful to their happiness. It was years before I found out.

What’s the point? I’m nobody special. What I have come to realise is that, if you’re alert to the potential friends around you and you see that they need a helping hand, then don’t hesitate,  give it.

Somebody once wrote about casting your bread on the water and after many days it will come back to you.

I’m very strongly of the view that, without interfering, you can be helpful where the opportunity arises to help someone along their path.

Both of these men are fine examples of positive family love and community concern.

They are like that because of the steps they actively followed not  because of anything I did or said. They needed a nudge in the direction that turned out to be helpful. For this, I’m glad.

Lesson: try and be a positive upbuilding force as much as possible. You never know who you might help along the way.

One response to ““I’m here today . . .”

  1. So true. You helped them but I love that your focus is not on what you did but on them. Great message to share today. God bless you.
