What is your favorite animal?
The Snowy Owl is absolutely stunning. This is the female, the male is smaller and all white.
Not only is it drop dead gorgeous but it has camouflage spots to hide from predators and protect its chicks.
Living in the Arctic circle is a life I couldn’t begin to contemplate. They eat small prey such as lemmings, voles and the arctic ground squirrel.
She’s spotted like that against gyrfalcons, hawks and golden eagles. A successful outcome isn’t always guaranteed.
Totally silent when hunting the grace and agility is wondrous. But it’s how they were made. Not surprising then.
Those eyes! Fabulous. One of the larger birds of prey, I’ve seen one close up and I’m smitten.
There’s no great revelation to tell about them. It’s just appreciation for their beauty, design and ability to breed in the most difficult circumstances.
