How are you creative?
Sorry, I had a thesaurus for breakfast! 😆😆 one of the many amazing ways that makes us human is this ability to make.
Granted some of what humans produce is rubbish! But then again it can be stunning.
Michelangelo produced the statue of David from one lump of marble. The form and proportions are incredible.
I’ve recently been inspired, quite by accident seemingly, to produce from wood a carving of trees as unique decorative pieces.
I was out walking and saw an obviously mass produced, laser cut tree silhouette in a window. My 1st thought was ‘how awful is that!’ But it set my head spinning.
I’ve always loved working with wood. It’s an amazing substance that can be manipulated and worked with to form all manner of things.
I made a coffee table years ago (5 decades, since you ask!) and it’s still with me.
But think of the baroque staircases, the amazing furniture in all manner of styles and designs. It’s endless and some of it is beautiful.
That’s when the creativity of others can inspire you to try something yourself. I’m no Michelangelo but it doesn’t matter. I can make something that people like and will keep as a momento or favourite piece that will give them pleasure for a period of time.
That’s immense and that’s why it’s worth trying. The “how” is about being imaginative, use or develop what skills you might have and, above all, appreciate that you have that ability and use to give to others.
