Who are the biggest influences in your life?
When I think about my closest friends and people that are a good influence, it’s usually because they are kind, discreet, demonstrate real empathy and have a profound sense of fun.
Kindness. What’s not to like? Whether it’s for oneself or other people and creatures, it takes a inner calm and self respect to show it in even difficult situations.
Discretion is an overlooked quality that is too often abused by people in positions of authority which is then accepted as a ‘normal’ for others to follow. I have a high regard for trustworthy, loyal persons who won’t betray the feelings and confidence of their friends.
Empathy. Disappearing rapidly in society in general. But then it requires more from you than some are willing to give. And that’s the right word – give. Of yourself, things may be appropriate but one act of deliberate kindness can change the outlook of another even temporarily.
Fun. Whatever happened to good, clean fun?! It’s so easy to criticise and impute wrong motives to some enjoyment and certainly some go too far. But come on, it’s actually easy to have good, clean fun.
In summary, kind,discreet, empathetic and fun? What’s not to like? Have a great day.
